"Watercooling at ClearPC®"

At ClearPC®, we’re thermoforming made to order computer cases and custom multi-compartment cases, specialized “watercooled mods” in clear or colored acrylic, using our proprietary case design. Our special emphasis for this article is on watercooling but we provide acrylic modifications of any type. For more information about our cases’ unique construction, please click here. With feedback from our customers, we’ve created “the great mods” of our times, works of art worth remembering. Compartmentalization for your watercooling kit, specialty borings and bracings for heavier items, sturdy shelving, duct work, and so much more, each of them specialized case mods. Our ClearPC® Grande case is one of our most popular cases for this reason (ClearPC® Kahuna coming soon, email and ask).

It’s easier than you think to set up a watercooled PC, but often, without the right tools or time to put it together, fewer people are trying it. There’s also a real lack of coherency in manufacturing watercooling hardware: each company has a different watercooling kit, so a case bored out and modified for a Asetek® Vapochill is inappropriate for Swiftech® or Danger Den® products.

That’s where a computer case design and manufacturer like ClearPC® steps in. We have more than 7 years experience modifying computer cases in clear or colored acrylic, more experience than any other manufacturer in North America with thousands of modifications to date. We were the first to provide custom watercooled acrylic cases to the Internet community and continue to provide some of the world’s greatest mods.

We began with a simple top mount radiator request for a watercooled ClearPC® Grande. We started with a manufacturer supplied drawing (see photo), created a jig and bored out the opening (see photo). Our newest modification for the Black Ice Extreme III carries on that tradition. It includes 3 120mm fan openings and 2 borings for the radiator. We had to lower our power supply opening in the rear of the ClearPC® Grande to accommodate the huge rad but it worked “extremely” well.

Since then, we’ve graduated to installing kits like the Asetek® Vapochill coupled with goodies like the Innovatek Konvekt-O-Matic MAXI Passive Radiator. Each of these items, from separate manufacturers required specialized mountings. Our customer provided the templates from Asetek and Innovatek and we did the rest. As an example, our customer ordered a ClearPC® GRANDE with the main body in clear acylic, the front and rear in transparent smoke. We added 1 more 5.25” bay to the front for a total of 7 drives, removed a floppy disk drive and added 2 x 120mm to the side panel, horizontally. From there we added 3/8” O.D. holes 2.5” from the front panel, separated 2.5” from one another and waited then for the customer supplied template for vapochill in a lower case mounting configuration. We also waited for a customer supplied template for the Innovatek radiator with a requested mounting on main body side of case (right hand side).

That was a great watercooling mod.

And there’s more to come. If you need help installing a watercooled PC, drop by ClearPC® and let us bring your creation to light. Like no other, ClearPC® is the temptation, the missing link between great mods and watercooling your personal computer in clear or colored acrylic.
